All NATO allies share a growing concern about China’s geopolitical rise and power-projection capabilities, as well as the implications they may have for the rules-based international order and the global balance of power. And Beijing’s “strategic partnership” with Russia, reaffirmed in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, plays a key role in shaping many allies’ threat perceptions. Mira Galic analyzes the joint Sino-Russian military exercises and the particular concern it represents for individual nations.

Mirna Galic – Lecture
Senior Policy Analyst for China and East Asia at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP)

Mirna Galic is an expert on U.S. relations with Asian and European partners, with a focus on regional and global security. Prior to her work at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), she was a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations – Hitachi International Affairs in Tokyo and a senior advisor to the U.S. government. She has seven years of experience in the State Department, the U.S. Senate and the United Nations. She has also contributed significantly to international diplomacy. She is known for her insightful publications, especially on Japan-NATO relations. She holds a master’s degree in international relations from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Stanford University.

José Jesús Sanmartin

José Jesús Sanmartin President of RADIX INTELLIGENTIA. He is a prolific author with more than seventy scientific publications. He has been a Seagram International Fellow at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He holds a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from UNED and another in Philosophy from the University of Murcia. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy Management and Analysis from the Universidad Carlos III and a Master’s Degree in European Union Law from the UNED. He has obtained a Diploma in Sociological and Political Research from Harvard University, as well as a Diploma of Specialization in International Relations from the National Institute of Public Administration. He is also a perpetual member of several international academic associations and is an instructor in various subjects, including Intelligence Analysis, Geopolitics, and Economic Intelligence, among others.
