“Environmental problems as security challenges”, the sixth of the series of debates within the Defense y Yo project, took place on Monday, March 22, at 16.00h via Zoom Pro due to the health situation.

These were the members composing the panel of experts:

Daniel González Garrido: lieutenant colonel, member of the Headquarters of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and of the Department of Relations and Evaluation (DRE).

Montserrat Pintado Lobato: Professor of International Relations at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).

Hasit Thankey: Head, Enablement and Resilience; Defence Policy and Planning Division NATO HQ International Staff.

The debate was presented by José Julio Fernández Rodríguez, PhD in Law and Professor of Constitutional Law at the USC and moderated by Cristina Manzano, Director of esglobal. The debate was conducted in Spanish and was simultaneously translated into Spanish and English.

After the meeting, the participating students from the University of Santiago de Compostela had three weeks to develop their projects individually following the instructions and according to the competition rules.
